We are JLDC

Welcome to Jessie Leigh Dance & Cheer Academy - home of the fastest growing academy in the South Coast! We are excited to be entering our 2nd season and have learned over the previous year that while all of the trophies and medals are great accolades, nothing compares to the feeling of belonging to the JLDC family!

While All-Star Dance and Cheerleading has exploded in growth in the UK, we believe that not all gyms are the same. With over 360 cheerleaders in 2 locations within the Gosport and Portsmouth region, we also have the largest After School Club Program in the area. Through all of this, we’ve stuck to our humble beginnings and kept the focus on developing our youth through this amazing sport.

With JLDC, you’ll gain life lessons that you’ll take with you far beyond your years of Dance Cheerleading. Dancing Cheering with JLDC goes above and beyond what you would typically expect from a sport. JLDC offers the highest possible standard of coaching and training, with a strong focus on athleticism, commitment, teamwork and passion for the sport. Personal development is key to JLDC, and we aim for all athletes to reach their full potential as a competitive cheerleader allowing them to go on to achieve excellence within their team.

We believe that JLDC serves a higher purpose, it’s more than a new skill or a trophy. It’s a feeling that comes with building friendships that will last a lifetime, learning from coaches that give you everything they have, and understanding that a team is only successful when hard work towards a common goal is achieved.

Being a JLDC athlete means being a part of a supportive an inclusive family that truly lifts you higher. We can’t wait to welcome you! Young athletes with big dreams go far in life!

 Welcome to the JLDC family.

This is JLDC’s second season of competing at All Star Cheerleading.  What is All Star cheerleading? All Star Cheer is a competition sport that involves boys and girls performing a 2 minute and 30 second routine composed of tumbling, stunting, pyramids and dance segments. This routine is performed and scored against other competitive teams at various local, regional, national, and worldwide competitions. When we refer to tumbling, we mean gymnastic type skills like cartwheels and back handsprings. Stunting refers to a group of two or more individuals that elevate another cheerleader in the air. This also includes co-ed stunting that may only include one base and one flyer. Pyramids are a form of stunting but are done as a large group and are interconnected. Dance is a portion of a routine that consists of choreographed high energy dance moves.

However, it does not just stop there. There is the opportunity for cheerleaders and stuntmen alike to develop their skills further in either one of the dance categories of Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary and Pom or, to compete as an individual stunt group. Let’s meet the teams and find out what they have been up to this season.
