Emma Hawkes

My name is Emma and I am originally from Buckinghamshire but moved to Portsmouth in 2014. In September, I will be going into my fourth year of studying BA (Hons) Sociology and Media Studies at the University of Portsmouth.

I first got into Cheerleading Coaching in my first year at university. However, I have a strong dance and Cheerleading background. I first started Ballet when I was three years old, where I had main roles in 'Cinderella' and 'Wizard of Oz'. When I reached Secondary School, I joined the Kobika Dance and Cheer Academy. I completed classes in Street Dance, Contemporary and Choreography. I also competed in national competitions for the Kobika Starlites Cheerleading Academy in Group Stunt, All Girl L2 and Pom Dance.

I am now competing in Group Stunt for Portsmouth Phoenix Cheerleading Squad. It was here where I was offered the chance to complete my NCSSE BCA Level 1-4 Cheerleading Coaching qualification which I received in November 2015. I have since been coaching in schools around the Portsmouth area. I am now looking to develop these skills and my love for teaching by coaching my own team at JLDC whilst I finish my final year at university. I am very excited to get started and be a part of a fabulous team of hardworking and determined athletes.
